Sitemaker gives publishers the tools to send their message without the need to learn esoteric and rapidly changing layout and navigation techniques. There are two easy "news" vehicles. The first is a web log or blog.. The other is a newsletter or news feature more flexibly formatted articles.

A web log is an integral option for every site. An increasing proportion of our site begin "life" as blogs. To add a blog to your site, just turn on the tool in the Editing Suite. The general layout is as shown in the adjacent image. Some flexibility is added to the fixed layout if the writer is familiar with BBcode or HTML/CSS.

We've put a preview of this site's blog on this page. Previews of many tools and subsystems can be placed strategically to highlight related content and draw readers to appropriate details. Note that another preview is used on this site's home page, but with different parameter settings altering the content selection and preview length. Because a Sitemaker editor has full access to all components, an advanced editor can easily add detailed controls and features like offsets an borders, just by filling in a design form.

Individual articles work just like ordinary pages; the difference is that they're grouped by topic and sorted chronologically or as the editor decides. Easily add text, graphics or other content just by typing or uploading. As with other parts of the system, HTML users can expand on the built-in flexibility of Sitemaker to embellish text or position elements of a page.

In Journalmaker, the editor can create "document lists" ("article lists") within pages (example). These document lists act as a secondary table of contents (example. Document lists can also be used to publish reports, case studies, biographies, scientific papers... Each page of a "document" or "article" can be manipulated as any other Sitemaker page with multiple text and graphic components, laid out to the user's preference.
