Sitemaker CMS
Version 2.3 Arrives with New Features and Appearance Options
Sitemaker version 2.3 is now active. Here are some of the highlights:

New and multiple menus types and layouts

  • horizontal top menu, text menu in footer
  • make pages and tools available in any menu or all 3 (depending on layout)
  • new layout sections: "top menu" and "footer menu"
  • some layouts have a top menu section with a horizontal menu
Automatic thumbnails on graphic component, blog post, biography photo.

New component - blog view. Pull an abbreviated synopsis of the most recent posts in your blog onto the home (or any) page. Choose posts by category, date posted, etc., set the number of characters displayed on view.

Photo upload in blog posts let you spiff up your layout. (Blog posts count against total image allowance.)

New field "optional home page label" lets you replace the system default home page label 'Home' - especially useful for non-English sites.

New calendar layout; event data is hidden to show more events in list. Simply click a toggle icon to reveal the details below the title.

Separate cascading style sheets (CSS) for tools (main, blog, calendar...) let you override all appearance controls. Using the style sheet in any page lets you override detaults anywhere to create a totally unique look by site, by page, by component.

  • styles are only applied in the page's source when needed
  • on a tool by tool basis
  • edit styles under "Styles" in Site Settings: Edit Theme
  • styles are tied to a theme; you can have several very different themes; this takes a bit of coordination and planning; for example: your photo gallery can have a completely different look when switching themes, and the css CSS will only appear in the gallery's pages

The Editing Suite layout has been modified to make forms simpler and (IOHO) better looking.

Under the hood there is better CSS support, bug fixes, code optimizations that set the groundwork for new features.

Multiple contacts are now possible in Contacts components. Alternate data in contact info component in the local contact list overrides the defaults and lets you build a simple contact list.
