Executive Committee Update from April 22 Meeting
The Executive Committee met April 22. It was a very productive meeting. Topics included nomination of distinguished alumni, the awards luncheon, the raffle and fundraising.
50 Most Distinguished Alumni
Within a week, Rees and I will have an application in place for you to send to your classmates. This application will be for submitting names for the 50 most distinguished alumni. The big question seems to be criteria. There are no requirements here. When you submit a name, you will be asked to tell why, this alumni should be considered. What has this person done to contribute to society? (See the announcement and nomination form elswhere in the site.)
Luncheon
I was hoping to have the reservation application in place for the luncheon by now. I am now targeting the end of May at the latest.
Fundraising
We need help to pull this event off! We want to make this an event to remember for the rest of our lives! With that in mind, we need money. To give you an idea of what we are planning, we will have Ronnie and the Classics. This is a 50s band that is well loved in the community. They will require a stage and sound system. We also need money for decorations, fireworks, etc.
Cruise Raffle
If each person sent in $10 or $20 for a cruise raffle ticket, we would be in great shape. We have the raffle on line, but they could send the money to me and I will immediately send out raffle tickets. They are $10 each ($2 less than on line). If each couple can send, $20, we will be doing great.

Auction
We are going to set up some auctions on e-bay. There will be a link from the event site directly to the item. We've had offers of a wrought iron lamp from the original Longden School! What do you have that you could put on e-bay? Old uniforms, megaphones, programs from musicals, photos, etc. Anything at all that you would be willing to donate that could help us raise money. Use our inquiry form to tell us what you would be willing to auction to help us.
Finally, if you would just like to donate money, we will accept it! Checks should be made out to 50 Year Celebration
