Sitemaker CMS
Design to Suit Yourself
Adding graphics is easy!

Each site is initialized with just a home page. You can easily add many additional pages. The specific number is defined by the type of site you've chosen and the tools you've activated.

All pages are assembled from components that contain text, graphics, links, lists, or even other components. Move most components around easily to create your own distinctive layout(s). Use an especially useful layout as a model for other pages. Build general-purpose pages with your own layouts or use automated components like a blog, calendar, FAQ, etc.

Sample templates with similar page content. New templates are added frequently. Use templates or specify your own colors, backgrounds, fonts, layouts, styles... Sitemaker manages stylesheets automatically. Create your own template.
Pages you like can be saved as templates, so you can use the same layout repeatedly to create a strong, consistent theme. Building on the rock-solid navigation of the Sitemaker table of contents and the site template you've selected, your site will be unlike any other, even though the underlying functions are shared with other sites (which is why Sitemaker is an inexpensive solution).

Tool-based pages, Calendar, Gallery, Inquiry Form, Guestbook are created simply by turning them on in the Editing Suite. Add content easily by typing, cut and paste, or browser upload.

Manage a Newsletter using the built-in Article List component. It creates a subordinate list of pages with a common theme such as news, case studies, reports or biographies.

Add graphics easily. The theme (mast) graphic appears atop every page on standard layouts. If no mast graphic is uploaded, the name of the site will appear at the top of every page.

Sitemaker's Editing Suite

The Editing Suite is a powerful set of tools for creating pages in your site and for editing content.

Some content is 'free-form' and some is maintained by 'tools' like the Guestbook or the Gallery.

In the Editing Suite, you'll have a WYSIWYG view of your pages that lets you easily add, move or delete components (text, graphics...) on your pages. You have complete control of your account, your site, and your content.

Editing Colors

From editing forms that contain color settings, open Sitemaker's standard color palette, which contains 216 hues and 36 shades of gray. Just click the color you want. Repeat this procedure for all the color settings on that form; save the form, and the next visitor to the site will see the new color(s). Of course, you can also use standard hexadecimal codes to select a very precise hue.

Editing Help

Extensive, context-sensitive help is available for most Sitemaker editing forms. Each editing form or tool is completely explained.

Users are encouraged to submit tips on how to use the system effectively. These ideas are reported in Sitemaker News (see news in the TOC of this site).

Flexibility: The Key Concept

If you know how to write HTML tags, you can make your pages do whatever you want. Just define a text block as the body of the page and type away! This lets you override the standard layout and component rules. It's a little trickier, and your potential for odd-looking pages is quite real, but it gives you great control of the appearance of your pages. You can use color. You can use styles.

Still can't quite do it? Send your Sitemaker designer the URL of a site whose appearance you like. We can probably make your Sitemaker site do the same things. Don't limit your imagination to the things we've already done. Custom design fees may apply to creation of a new system theme.

As an example, all the parts of this page, except for this section on flexibility, have been prepared without any HTML. It's all just text. The subheadings and other styles are managed entirely by Sitemaker.

In addition to typing HTML tags, you can have Sitemaker apply styles and classes of your own definition to components of pages. You can define a global style, too, with your own preferred fonts, text sizes and colors, along with background colors and background graphics. Did we mention flexibility?
