Workaround Found for Missing Graphics in IE 6.x
A bit of research on the previously reported problem of "missing" graphics in IE6 has provided a suggested workaround for Sitemaker users.

We're working on a specific procedure, and we'll update this article within a couple of days.

In the meantime, here's the gist of it: Adobe Photoshop version 7.x saves a body of XML-coded color-profile metadata along with each image. The encoding of the metadata is not intelligible to Microssoft Internet Explorer version 6. The result is that Photoshop 7 images uploaded to Sitemaker or any other site may not appear on HTML pages despite correct <img...> specification. In addition, IE continues to build the image, drawing additional memory, so the page apparently never fully loads, as indicated by the progress bar displayed by IE. Since Sitemaker reserves screen space for each image during page layout, there is usually an empty space for the image, and when the cursor hovers over an image that is linked, the link is available to be clicked, and the next page will open.

The workaround involves post-processing and re-saving images from Photoshop 7. Mac users can post-process with Image Converter. Windows users can post process with Irfanview. Details on sources and procedures will appear here as soon as we can compile them. Once images have been post-processed they can be uploaded to Sitemaker. Users should then empty the cache of their browsers to cause the new images to appear.

We repeat that this is a well documented problem with the interrelationship of the two programs and is not a Sitemaker issue.
