Windows IE 6.x Loses Graphics
A bug in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.x is causing certain graphics to disappear from pages on this and many other sites. The problem is under heavy discussion among web publishers.
Under circumstances as yet not fully understood, graphics that originate from certain "victim" servers just don't show up, although the respective space is reserved for them on the calling pages, which otherwise are correctly displayed. If the graphic is used as an active element of the page, clicking the blank space will achieve the desired result. This problem affects only the Windows versions of the browser. In the case of Sitemaker pages, it mainly affects our image galleries. Some other graphics do appear. Because we don't use Windows in development and editing, we have to trundle ourselves down to the local library to see this exciting new consumer benefit from Redmond. If you have not "upgraded" from IE 5.x, we suggest that you wait. For you web folk: Theories include URL formats, encodings, and code in browsers that is supposedly intended to block popup windows. It's a mystery, children. We and others are researching solutions. In case you can't see some picture you suspect is present, we suggest you close your eyes and imagine yourself in a beautiful spot by a waterfall... In the meantime...
